Cuban Vice President Receives Bolivian Foreign Minister

Cuban Vice President Esteban Lazo reiterated Cuba's unconditional solidarity in the face of destabilization attempts promoted by the rightwing in Bolivia, to Bolivian Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca here today.

The Bolivian foreign minister met with Lazo yesterday afternoon as part of his official visit to Cuba, during which they discussed the excellent state of bilateral relations.

Both officials reiterated the common willingness to continue strengthening ties between the respective countries. Lazo expressed rejection of the attempts to stop progress in Bolivia, Granma newspaper reported.

The two also discussed other issues of international interest.

Bolivian ambassador to Cuba Palmiro Leon Soria, and Marielena Ruiz, director of Latin American department at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also attended the meeting.

The Bolivian diplomat met on Tuesday with his Cuban peer Bruno Rodriguez, who thanked the South American nation for its support in the struggle against the U.S.-imposed economic blockade.

Rodriguez highlighted the positive state of bilateral relations and also reiterated Cuba's deep gratitude for the permanent solidarity with Bolivia in defense of international law, confronting climate change and the construction of a more united Latin America.
