Cuban Robles to World 110-m Semifinals

Although being injured, Cuban spinter Dayron Robles qualified on Wednesday for the 110-m hurdle semifinals of the World Championship in Athletics, taking place in this capital.
 

Robles, world record holder, with 12.87 seconds, felt the effect of a lesion during the race that placed him third, with 13.67, after Jamaican Maurice Wignall, 13.62, and German Helge Schwarzer, 13.66.

The Beijing-2008 Olympic champion said he is suffering physical discomfort in his left leg, similar to the lesion hat forced him to pull out of the February indoor competitions.

In the preliminary competitions of this sport, Hungarian Daniel Kiss got the best result with 13.34 seconds, followed by Barbadian Ryan Brathwote, with 13.35. Jamaican Dwight Thomas, Bahamas Shamar Sands, Colombian Paolo Villar, and Cuban Dayron Capetillo also got through to the semifinals, scheduled for Thursday.
