Cuban Physicians Congratulated on LatAm Medicine Day

Cuba's Public Health Minister, Roberto Morales, congratulated the sector's workers on the occasion of Latin American Medicine Day.

Morales lauded the work of physicians, nurses and health technicians in Cuba, and those who provide humanitarian aid in 68 countries, the National News Agency reported.

The minister called on health staff to achieve greater efficiency, sustainability and quality of medical services, while making increased efforts to satisfy people and improve health indicators.

He also highlighted the humanist thought of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, who promoted the solidarity spirit that currently marks the practice of medicine in the island.

Every December 3 marks Latin American Medicine Day to honor the birthday of Cuban scientist Carlos J. Finlay, who discovered that the Aedes aegypti mosquito was the agent transmitting dengue fever.
