Cuban Heroine Vilma Espin Remembered in Native City

The legacy of Cuban heroine Vilma Espin Guillois was praised in this Cuban city today, and the activity included several commemorations along the city and other places of Cuba.

There were conferences in which students knew about the life of Vilma Espin, a symbol of the revolutionary passion and efforts to dignify Cuban women and defending family rights.

People went to the Vilma Espin Memorial to evoke her life and the presence in the work of Cuban women in defense of the revolutionary ideas.

The homage culminated with a popular march and a flower offering by the main Cuban authorities at the Frank Pais Second War Front, where the remains of Vilma Espin are buried together with the ones belonging to other revolutionary fighters.

Symposiums, conferences, talks, walks to historical places, the demand for freedom for the Cuban Five, who are unfairly serving prison terms in the US, were some of the other fundamental activities to honour Vilma Espin.

At the Frank Pais Second War Front, founded by Raul Castro in March 1958, young Vilma Espin made her talent as organizer and guerrilla fighter, conditions that turned her as a heroine of her nation.
