Cuban Hero Thanks Parliamentary Support
Fernando González Llort, one of the Cuban Five, called today to keep fighting for the return of his three comrades who remain imprisoned in the United States.
In extraordinary session of the National Assembly of People's Power to discuss the draft bill on foreign investment, Fernando expressed his gratitude and his brothers to the solidarity movement for their release and return to their homeland.
Accompanied by Cuban representatives and René González, who was released after fully serving his sentence, Fernando highlighted the significance and symbolism of this forum and its role in the country's history.
Fernando Gonzalez also thanked on his behalf and his four brothers the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and described him as the representative of Cuban traditions of struggle.
Fidel has fueled the struggle for our return and has been the compass for our resistance, he said.
He also expressed gratitude to the Cuban government and the Communist Party, including President Raul Castro, for the efforts and constant support to their cause and family.
Fernando praised the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, and the International Committee for the Freedom of the Five for the solidarity campaigns they have carried out all around the world.
Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, Gerardo Hernández, René González and Fernando González, known as the Cuban Five worldwide, were arrested, tried and sentenced to excessive penalties for monitoring terrorist activities, organized and financed from the United States against Cuba.
