Cuban Health Minister Meets with Doctors in Brazil
Cuban Health Minister Roberto Morales visited primary health centers in the Brazilian state of Bahia where he met with Cuban doctors who are currently working there.
Doctor Morales, who was accompanied by Brazilian Health secretary Jorge Solla and local authorities, asked the Cuban physicians about their experiences. Community leaders and authorities said that appreciated the presence and work of Cuban doctors in their regions.
Last July, Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff launched the health program known as More Doctors, which includes 6 thousand 600 health professionals, out of which 5 thousand 400 are Cuban.
The Brazilian government expects to increase the number of doctors to 13 thousand by March next year in order to cover the health needs of a 46-million population.
