Cuban Comptroller to Present Report to National Assembly
The Comptroller General of the Republic of Cuba will present the results of its performance to the National Assembly, during the third ordinary period of sessions of the Eighth Legislature, convened for Saturday, July 5, Granma newspaper reported today.
The Comptroller General emerged on August 1, 2009 to assist the National Assembly and the Council of State in compliance with the constitutional mandate to supervise all agencies of the State and Government, and will present a report on its performance during the first five years of mandate.
As a prior step to the Assembly's deliberations, territorial meetings were held, in which participants engaged in exchanges with legislators about the subjects included in the report.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday and Thursday the Assembly's commissions will examine the results of control actions and supervision in that field.
The Comptroller General is playing an essential role in improving order, economic discipline, internal controls, and confronting corruption, as well as the causes and conditions that may promote the negligent and criminal action of any leader or official.
