Cuban Children Gather to Sing

Thousands of Cuban children will gather in all municipalities and provinces to sing in concerts on Thursday at culture houses, theaters, parks and plazas.

The 58 children singing choirs that will perform are a whole movement, boosted in recent years by music institutions, together with their centers in each municipality, schools, teachers, and are also backed by members of the Jose Marti Art Teacher Brigade, according to the Cuban News Agency (ACN).

Havana's Amadeo Roldan Theater will present two popular groups, taught by the professional Vocal Luna choir that are an example of eight groups that will perform in other places in this capital, the ACN said.

Values of the best Cuban and world music are being promoted by children and adolescents in those choirs, some with up to 50 members, hence the singing gatherings on Thursday will be another outstanding event in the Cuban summer.

Teachers and young art mentors, and even prestigious directors of this kind of groups in the country, have been in charge of the final preparations during these previous days.

A group of concert bands from Villa Clara, Granma and Guantanamo provinces will join the singing gatherings during these special days.
