Cuba Widely Represented in Buenos Aires Fair
Two dozen companies will exhibit as of today the diverse Cuban travel offers in the Latin America International Tourism Fair (FIT) to gather exhibitors from about 50 countries in this capital.
The representation of the island is wider than in any previous edition, formed by travel agencies Cubatur, Cubanacan, Gaviota Tours and San Cristobal, the Gaviota Tourism Group and the specialized Ecotur operator.
The groups Cubanacan S.A. and Gran Caribe, tourism company Habaguanex, the Havana Convention Palace and the flag airline Cubana de Aviacion, are others to present their offers.
Present also will be Islazul, the Sol Melia Cuba division, the chains Occidental Hotels, Sandals, Hotels C, Barcelo Hotels and NH Hotels, in a delegation including the Cuban Ministry of Tourism.
Argentina is among the 10 biggest emitter markets to Cuba and despite the general reduction in international traveler flows, until October the number of visitors increased by almost five percent compared to the same period of 2008, Luis Aguilera told Prensa Latina.
The director of the Tourism Office for the South Cone countries, recalled that last year 47,405 Argentineans traveled to Cuba, figure that represented a 25 percent increase compared to 2007 and this year could be higher.
According to estimates of organizers, the largest showcase of Latin American and Caribbean tourism will gather this year over 1,400 exhibitors of about 50 countries open through next Tuesday, November 17.
The first day of the Fair will open with a presentation of a compilation on "The Role of Tourism Development in Poverty Reduction."
This Saturday there will also be a panel on the Argentinean network of Communitary Indigenous and PeasantsTourism; a space in construction.
