Cuba Stops Energy Over-consumption
Cuba has saved about 16,000 tons of fuel between July and August, thanks to a new plan that stopped the tendency to energy over-consumption, Granma newspaper reported Thursday.
The energy-saving plan, started early this year, has sparked off a national saving drive with measures aimed at controlling and planning consumption, whose unfulfillment was reduced to 0.6 percent.
Electricity Company official Ricardo Gonzalez stated that Cuba has reduced 3.1 percent the use of fuel planned to generate electricity in August.
Gonzalez said that the Cuban province of Matanzas did not fulfill consumption plan, due to group of infractions committed in the tourism sector.
He stressed that the residential sector exceeded consumption plan for July and August as expected, while the state sector continued adjustments.
