Cuba Slams Israeli Attack on Flotilla

Cuba has condemned the attack in international waters of the Israeli navy on a flotilla of ships carrying humanitarian aid for Palestinians in the blockaded Gaza Strip.

The statement by the Foreign Affairs Ministry states that Cuba learnt with deep concern about the criminal attack perpetrated by the Israeli naval especial forces on May 31, in which the troops killed at least 19 pacifists and wounded over 30 of them.

The Cuban Foreign Affairs Ministry expresses its energetic condemnation to the wily and criminal attack of the Israeli government, and calls on the international community and peace-loving people to demand Israeli authorities the immediate lifting of the illegal, savage and genocidal blockade on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Cuba wishes to send the relatives of victims its deepest condolences, and reiterates support and solidarity to the fair cause of the Palestinian people and their inalienable rights, including the creation of an independent Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital, the note stresses.
