Cuba Rejects Politization on Human Rights Issue

Cuba said here that politicization, double standards and selectivity can not continue gaining ground in the works of the Human Rights Council.

This will only lead to failure and will not contribute to the promotion and protection Anayansi Rodriguez, permanent representative of the island, said when speaking at the general discussion with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

This debate has been used to promote a discussion on the alleged human rights situation in the countries of the South. The lists of nations criticized in the speeches of certain delegations, are an example of this, she said.

In times in which an important crisis of migrants is living, it would be worth to reflect what the Office is doing to promote the protection of the rights of those hundreds of thousands of people, stressed Rodriguez.

The diplomat insisted that the respect for sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, the right to self-determination of the peoples, and the solution of conflict through diplomatic channels, should be a priority. So, situations like that hundreds of thousands of people are now experiencing in the world, would be avoided.
