Cuba received 135 donations from compatriots abroad and friends in 2021
"Our gratitude for genuine gestures of support and solidarity with Cuba," tweeted Party Political Bureau member and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, expressing gratitude for donations to our country from compatriots living abroad and friends in the year 2021.
Over the past year, a total of 135 shipments from 40 countries, mostly medical supplies and equipment for immunization and the COVID-19 battle, were donated by Cubans residing in other nations and solidarity organizations.
The solidarity continues in 2022, as evidenced by donations from Cubans living in Japan, the Japan-Cuba Scientific-Technical Exchange Committee, the Federation of Democratic Doctors of Japan (Min Iren) in the prefectures of Tokyo, Saitama and Fukuoka, the company Taichi Holdings Limited and others.
The Japanese donation contained healthcare products donated by various organizations in Japan to support the work of our medical professionals, and included thousands of syringes, face masks, protective gowns, rechargeable lamps and gloves, estimated at a value of more than eight million yen (81,322 USD).
