Cuba Recalls Rapporteur Anti-Immigrant Law in Arizona
Cuba recalled on Thursday to a UN special rapporteur about implications of the Immigration Law in Arizona, the United States, "which has shock the world."
During an interactive debate with the rapporteur on the human rights of migrants, Cuban delegate Resfel Pino stated that the Arizona legislation motivated a press release from several special procedures included in the Human Rights Commission (HRC).
"It was desirable to debate the issue here, as well as the impact of the economic and financial crisis in the rise of discrimination, violence and intolerance against migrants, especially in Europe and North America," Pino said.
The island's diplomat also spoke in the meeting with the independent expert on cultural rights. He also extolled her for her initial work and encouraged her to go deep into an aspect that defines the countries' identity.
Cultural diversity, away from weakening human civilization's universal values, is the main factor of strength and wealth, Pino noted.
