The Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Fernando Gonzalez Llort, and members of the community of Cuban residents in Chile met in an emotional evening held in this capital, with the common denominator of solidarity and love for Homeland.
 
After summarizing thoughts about concerns in the course of current events for the relations with the United States, Gonzalez Llort stressed that Cuba is and will be forever of the Cubans.
 
We will never give up our independence and sovereignty, to which we worked so hard to build throughout the Revolution, our identity and the cultural values of the nation, the Cuban fighter against terrorism said emphatically.
 
Particularly, Gonzalez Llort, who was imprisoned more than 15 years in U.S. jails for fighting terrorism, was grateful to the Cubans who maintain their attachment to the Caribbean island.
 
It is a great pleasure to share with you who also contributed a lot to the cause for the release of the Cuban Five, he said referring to his four comrade-in-arms who were also imprisoned in the United States.
 
Cuba's ambassador in Chile, Adolfo Curbelo, told Prensa Latina that Gonzalez Llortâ�Ös stay here is an opportunity to exchange with solidarity groups that contributed to the release of the Five.
 
He stressed the interest of the talks he held with the current vice president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) by many legislators of the New Majority coalition, and independents.
