The 23rd Congress of the Internal Medicine Society of Central America and the Caribbean (AMICAC) and the 11th National Internal Medicine Congress will be held in Havana on May 13-16, organizers announced today.

Alfredo Nasiff, President of the Organizing Committee, told Prensa Latina that the scientific agenda of the forums includes broad ranking issues like tumoral, infectious, hematologic and renal diseases, atherosclerosis, heart and digestive conditions and emergency medicine.

A symposium on "The Crisis of the Clinical Method is expected to focus the attention of delegates, revealed Nasiff.

Doctor Miguel Angel Blanco, from the Havana-based Finlay-Albarran Faculty, announced that results of a multinational research about the most frequent illnesses in patients admitted in hospital in Central America and the Caribbean will be shown during the event.

Some 250 local and foreign professionals are expected to attend the Congress of AMICAC, sponsored by the National Council of Scientific Health Associations, the Central American and Caribbean Association of Internal Medicine and the Cuban Society of Internal Medicine, to be in session at the Havana Convention Center.
