Cuba, Example of Responsible Tourist Diversification

General Secretary of the UN World Tourism Organization Taleb Rifai praised on Monday Cuba''s ability to diversify its tourist offers responsibly, without damaging the environment.

  "Cuba is on the right track and should be ready for more," Rifai told Prensa Latina during the opening ceremony of a seminar about tourism as a socio-economic development factor in the Asia-Pacific region.

Admirer of Cuba's natural beauties, the maximum world tourism figure has been acknowledge for his environmental commitment and for promoting exploitation of new prospects and potentials in the sector.

Rifai assessed the Cuban case, and particularly the rescue of Old Havana's architectural and cultural heritage, an initiative that has broken away from the cliche that Cuba is exclusively a destination for sun and beach.

Rifai considers Cuba as an ideal destination that he carries in his heart, because security and hospitality for visitors are guaranteed.
