Cuba, Europe Musicians in Benefit Concert in Havana

French, Spanish and Cuban musicians will unite on Friday in the benefit concert "Schools against hurricanes", an initiative of UNICEF and Cuban singer-songwriter Raúl Paz.

Karl Marx theatre, with capacity for 5,000 people, will receive the eight project members, which will contribute to the recovery of educational institutions damaged for three hurricanes in 2008.

Raúl Paz will meet with four French artists, Florent Pagny, Yannick Noah, Jehro and MC Soolar, the Spanish singer-songwriter Antonio Carmona, ex-leader of Ketama and the Cuban X Alfonso and Ernán López Nussain in the same stage.

The concert' date coincides with the anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child Rights.

Paz told the press that the evening will be long, as the first concert of that kind in France last May. We though it will last only one and a half hour, but it lasted more than three, he said.

The guest artists arrived to Havana on Wednesday and visited Pinar del Río, one of the most affected area by Gustav, Ike and Paloma hurricanes, which caused more than 10.000 million dollar losses to the island.

We could see how people recovered and helped each other after the disaster. If they could, we most help them by the art, told Florent Pagny to Prensa Latina
