Cuba, EU for Cooperation
Business people from Cuba and the European Union are meeting Thursday in this capital to explore future cooperation.
The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment organized the meeting right after cooperation between the island state and the European bloc was resumed.
Louis Michel, EU Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Help, leads the European delegation, which is seeking more cooperation in health, education and scientific research.
The European official praised Wednesday possibilities of cooperation between Cuba and the regional bloc, starting with strengthened political dialogue.
Cuban Vicepresident Ricardo Cabrisas stated that the island will correspond to the European delegation level with a high presence of investors.
Michel made evident the European bloc’s willingness to multiply association and cooperation with the island during a meeting with Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca.
Michel is on his third visit to Cuba, and came accompanied by representatives from almost all European Commission departments.
The visitor also met yesterday with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez.
The Cuban minister reiterated Cuba’s willingness to continue the political dialogue with the EU and achieve normalization of relations between both parties.
