Cuba Defends Peaceful Use of Nuke Energy

Cuba defended on Wednesday at the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) the use with peaceful ends of nuclear applications in sectors such as health, food and environment.

Cubans Representative Rodolfo Benitez underlined that the country welcomes the IAEA assistance in the use of nuclear methods to assess nutrition programs from its impact in the identification food deficiencies of children.

The diplomat also highlighted the use of nuclear methods as a means to improve the access to drinkable water and the optimization of the use of water resources.

Benitez recalled Cubans aid to Haiti in that sector by virtue of a tripartite project with IAEA.
