Cuba Debates Emerging Lat Am Environment Issues

Emerging environmental issues in Latin American countries is the focus of debates of the 8th International Convention on Environment and Development, taking place in this capital.

A panel with top environmental authorities from Cuba, Guatemala, Venezuela, Bolivia, Dominican Republic and El Salvador will be responsible for revealing the urgent environmental problems gripping the region.

The 3rd Congress on Ecosystem Management and Biodiversity and the 7th Congress on Protected Areas will be held in parallel to this convention.

The event will also offer a master lecture "Protected Areas of the world, status and contribution in the struggle against climate change," by Nikita Lopoukhing, from the World Commission on Protected Areas.

Also on the list is a master lecture "Biological corridors, a transversal instrument on environmental policy to adapt to climate change," by Pedro Alvarez Icaza, general coordinator of Corridors and Biological Resources at the National Commission of Biodiversity in Mexico.

The 8th International Convention on Environment and Development will conclude on July 8 and brings together 900 delegates from 35 countries.
