Cuba, China Legislators Meet
The 11th Chinese National People's Assembly Permanent Committee Chairman Wu Bangguo, visiting the island, is holding Wednesday a meeting with Cuban Parliament President Ricardo Alarcon.
Today's agenda also includes signing of accords between both governments, whose diplomatic relations will reach their 50th anniversary in 2010.
Invited by Alarcon, the also member of China's Central Committee Communist Party Political Bureau expects to hold talks with the island's government and party authorities, and visit sites of historic and social interest.
This visit will strengthen relations even more between our two countries, Bangguo said Tuesday, after arriving in at the capital's Jose Marti international airport.
"The presence of President Hu Jintao in Cuba in 2008 gave a new impetus to the mutual links in all aspects," the Chinese visitor noted.
