Cuba Attends FMLN Cultural Dialogues in El Salvador
Cuban youth leader Yoel Barrios, invited to the Winter Cultural Dialogues being held in this capital, said that young people need a strategy for political and ideological training to transform the society.
Barrios, director of the National School of the Cuban Young Communist League, participated in those meetings organized by the Secretariat of Arts and Culture of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN), taking place from July 16 to August 13 at the University of El Salvador (UES).
Along with FMLN youth secretary Margarito Nolazco, and producer Pedro Manuel Alfaro, Barrios participated in a panel which main issue was "Youth and Social Transformation", and that this time brought together a large group of UES students and teachers.
During his speech, the Cuban youth leader recalled the active participation of the island's youth in the revolutionary process begun on July 26, 1953, when a group of combatants attacked the second military strength of the military dictatorship ruling in their country.
In his speech, Barrios said that nine percent of the legislators in the Cuban parliament are young, and they are a fundamental part in the defense of the country, and participate in many other socially valuable activities.
On the other hand, the FMLN youth leader referred to the most urgent issues for the Salvadoran youth that are aimed at searching for jobs, better forms of public education, and social participation in all projects of growth in the society.
The Winter Cultural Dialogues are an initiative of the FMLN, which objective is to promote cultural debate, especially on issues related to politics, ethics, utopia, and citizen participation, among others.
