Cuba, Angola Sign Cultural Accord
Cuban Culture Minister Abel Prieto concluded on Friday a five-day working visit to Angola that was termed very positive, and signed a protocol for cultural collaboration between both countries.
Prieto made these statements before departing from the "4 de Febrero" international airport, in the presence of his Angolan peer Rosa Cruz e Silva, and Cuban Ambassador to this country Pedro Ross Leal.
As part of the boost to those links, the Aragon Orchestra, an emblematic popular band in Cuba and Omara Portuondo, one of the greatest singers at present, will perform in this country in September, the minister told Prensa Latina.
Prieto stated that an anthology of Angolan poetry, the first book of a collection to bring the two countries closer, will be launched at Havana's Book Fair in February, 2011, with the participation of Cruz e Silva.
Visiting the Art School on Thursday, the visitor appreciated theater and contemporary dance pieces, and was impressed by the building and its architectural concept, and the students' training regime in that center.
Prieto's visit allows re-boosting cultural relations between Angola and Cuba, Cruz e Silva told Prensa Latina.
She also said the agreement includes exchanging artistic delegations, bibliography, co-publication of literary works, preservation of the historic heritage, inquiries on the African presence in Cuba, and other areas.
