Cuba and Nicaragua Agree for Exchange on Economy
Cuba's National Association of Economists and Accountants (ANEC) and the Central University of Nicaragua (UCN) signed today an outline agreement for cooperation in economic sciences.
The agreement was penned at Havana's Convention Palace by ANEC president Roberto Verrier and UCN vice-rector Francisco Lopez. With this action, experts of the two institutions will be able to lead scientific exchanges in the area of economics focused on achieving a socially responsible economic development.
The agreement also opens new doors to discussion, training, critical reflection about the importance of the development of economic and accounting sciences. It also establishes the joint creation of materials, study and research projects in areas of common interest.
The UCN committed to promote in Nicaragua the annual international meeting of economists on globalization and development problems currently underway in Havana.
Francisco Lopez said they will aim at bringing more delegates to the meeting and to promote similar events in Central America as a preparatory step to the annual meeting in Havana.
Verrier talked about the importance of the event that emerged in 1998 on the initiative of Fidel Castro. It was created as a space for debate and confrontation of ideas and academic exchanges.
He said ANEC has signed collaboration agreements with other institutions in the region, such as the Latin American Economic System, the Latin American Association for Integration and with universities from Colombia and Peru, among others.
