Committee of Assistance to Cuba Created in Barbados

A Committee of Assistance to Cuba was created in Barbados with the participation of diverse institutions and personalities that will promote solidarity actions in order to
contribute to the ongoing recovery efforts underway in Cuba after the damages caused by hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

According to Prensa Latina news agency, the group will try to find mechanisms to collect donations for the victims of the two hurricanes.The Committee will also offer assistance to the victims of urricanes in Haiti.

The group includes personalities such as former minister Trevor Prescod,parliamentarian Hamilton Lashley and the leader of the Cuba-Barbados Friendship Association, David Denny.
As part of this initiative, small containers will be placed near markets so that Barbadians can make their donations.University students will also help in this campaign.
