China Congratulates Raul Castro for Re-election as Leader of the PCC
The Government of China congratulated President Raul Castro today for his re-election as first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).
President Raul Castro is a leader deeply admired by his people and also has all the respect of the Chinese people, Foreign Affairs Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said in her daily press briefing.
Sincerely we welcome his re-election. We believe that Cuba will continue with new and greater achievements in the cause of building socialism under the leadership of President Raul Castro, she said.
Raul Castro was reelected last Tuesday as leader of the political organization during the closing plenary session of the Seventh Congress of the PCC.
He remains first secretary of the PCC since the Congress in 2011, when he replaced his older brother Fidel Castro.
The main meeting of the PCC held during four days and concluded yesterday- welcomed nearly 1,000 delegates who discussed among other documents, the projects submitted on the conceptualization of the Economic and Social Model and the Foundations of the National Social Economic Development Plan until 2030.
The historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, also attended the final session of the Congress and spoke on the dangers humanity faces.
