Chilean Foreign Minister Complies with Intensive Program in Cuba

Chilean Foreign Minister, Heraldo Muñoz, continues today his visit to Cuba, along with a large government and business delegation from his country.

As part of his agenda, Muñoz will offer a news conference at the emblematic Hotel Nacional de Cuba.

The South American foreign minister met yesterday with his peer from the Caribbean island, Bruno Rodriguez.

During the meeting held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Muñoz said the government of President Michelle Bachelet has prioritized its relations with Latin America and the Caribbean.

In that sense, this visit is in line with "the priority we have always assigned to the region and very particularly to Cuba for its history, diplomacy, our bilateral relations, which we would like to further deepen in the political, economic, cultural level, and in the sphere of cooperation," he said.

The visitor also reiterated Chile's support to the initiatives aimed at ending the U.S. blockade on Cuba.

On the other hand, the Cuban diplomatic head expressed satisfaction for the positive state of the ties and said the two countries have potential to follow increasing them in several spheres.
