Chavez Seeks Strengthening Socialism

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez meets Saturday with governors in San Juan de Los Morros, state of Guarico, to strengthen government.

According to Chavez, the aim is "to listen to governors' problems and progresses, as a single government, maximum efficiency, transfer of power to people, communes, and socialist democracy."

The event takes place a day after the swearing-up ceremony of six new vice presidents of the Council of Ministers at the capital's Miraflores Palace.

This reorganization seeks to strengthen political management of the Presidential Council of Ministers.

The statesman said in the ceremony that the new Council should boost, reorganize and revitalize all political, economic and social areas of the government.

According to Chavez, the restoration of those projects will have an important impetus by 2009 last quarter.
