Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez gave Fidel Castro a present consisting of two paintings, during his stay in Cuba on Thursday, to celebrate the 83rd birthday of the Leader of Cuban Revolution, Granma daily reported Saturday.

  Venezuelan leader honored Fidel Castro with two paintings of Jose Marti and Francisco de Miranda, by painter Edgar Alvarez Estrada.

Chavez remained in Cuba until Friday afternoon. During this time, he held two encounters with Cuban President Raul Castro, among other top authorities, Granma says.

Same source assures they debated on the fraternal relationships between the two governments and peoples and the sincere friendly ties existing between them.
