Bolivia, Paraguay Support Cuban 5
Bolivians and Paraguayans have joined the growing rank of people worldwide concerned with the fate of five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in the US since September 12, 1998 for fighting terrorism.
Cambio newspaper publishes an article by Cuban Andres Gomez, director of Areito magazine in Miami, Florida, in which he explains the continuous and unjust imprisonment of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez.
The torture they are currently suffering is part of that northern country policy of permanent aggression against the Cuban people and government since 1959.
The Parliamentary League of Friendship with Cuba also demanded the immediate freedom of the Cuban Five, as Gerardo, Ramon, Antonio, Fernando and Rene are universally known.
Meanwhile, the Paraguayan Coordinating Committee of Solidarity with Cuba, as well as political organizations, movements and parties, are demanding on Saturday in Asuncion the freedom of the Cuban Five.
The act, to be held at the National Pantheon of Heroes, in Asuncion, joins the world campaign of solidarity with those men for whom September 12 will mark 12 years of unjust imprisonment.
The Cuban Five were victims of a manipulated trial, full of irregularities, held in Miami, a completely hostile venue and one, judging by US and international law, unable to carry out a just and impartial trial against the antiterrorist fighters.
