Bolivia Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Che''s Arrival with Books
Bolivian journalist Carlos Soria announced here today the new publishing projects his country is preparing on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the arrival of Ernesto ''Che'' Guevara to that South American nation.
Speaking at the International Book Fair in Cuba, he announced activities to mark the day this year and one of them is the new edition of The Diary of Che in Bolivia.
In addition to promoting debate and reflection, we want to begin a long road for the recovering of important documentary texts on the presence of the Argentine-Cuban guerrilla, stated Soria during the conference The 10 year of the book in the process of change in Bolivia.
For example, he said, The journal of Captain San Luis, by Cuban Eliseo Reyes, is still in the hands of the Bolivian Armed Forces and the books circulating are re-translations, but not from original.
Meanwhile, the original manuscripts of The Dairy of Che in Bolivia are put away in a sealed envelope and shelved in the National Bank of Bolivia, when they should be in the National Archives in Sucre, a facility with the optimum conditions for its conservation, he said.
UNESCO declared Che documentation as Memory of the World, but still an important part of it is scattered in different parts of Cuba, Bolivia and other countries, he said.
