Belgian Enterprises Start Talks on Business in Cuba
Over 20 Belgian enterprises attend today a forum with Cuban entities to examine business opportunities in the island, confirmed here the Chamber of Commerce.
According to diplomatic sources, it is the largest trade mission of that European country to Cuba, to promote the excellent links between both countries which hold a long-standing history in the academic sphere.
In statements to the press, ambassador Patrick Van Gheel detailed that the group is headed by the president of the Flanders government, Geert Bourgeois.His work agenda will include a visit to the Special Development Zone of Mariel, the main Project of the Caribbean island to attract direct foreign investment.
The binational forum takes place at the capital Melia Habana Hotel, with the presence of entities that opérate in the food, chemical, ports and construction material sectors, among others, explained organizers.
According to the Economic and Trade Attache of the Belgian Diplomatic See in Cuba, Jean-Serge Dias, there is an increasing interest in the business community of his country to invest here in branches such as metallurgy and construction.
Among the 13 companies approved until the moment in the Mariel Zone
there are two of Belgian nationality: BDC Log S.A., specialist in logistics and BDC Tec S.A., of the electronic industry, with wide experience in the manufacturing of electric boards and sensors of temperature for industry.
