ALBA Countries Will Demand End of US Blockade of Cuba

The countries of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA) – a Latin American and Caribbean integration and cooperation bloc -  will demand the end of the US economic, financial and trade blockade of Cuba during the upcoming General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS).

According to Prensa Latina news agency, after participating in an ALBA meeting in Venezuela, Honduran Foreign Minister Patricia Rodas stressed that this aggressive policy against the Caribbean nation should be permanently and unconditionally suspended.

The Honduran diplomat added that during the 39th General Assembly of the OAS that will take place on June 2-3 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, the ALBA member countries will also demand the OAS to correct the historic mistake it made almost 50 years ago when Cuba was expelled from this regional organization.

Rodas noted that the OAS should publicly apologize to Cuba and suspend the resolutions that established the expulsion of the Caribbean nation from this organization.
