ALBA Boosts Grand National Companies
The Bolivarian Alliance for the People of our Americas (ALBA) Ministerial Social Council, which was shaped on Saturday in this capital, called to create large national companies to favor education health and other projects.
During the closing ceremony of the forum, attended by representatives of the member nations, except Honduras (due to the coup on June 28), the ministers of social spheres also boosted plans for employment, public works and housing.
In the social sphere, the ALBA-Trade Treaty with the Peoples will work at the level of ministers and technicians. Regarding education, funds were agreed upon for the grand national project for literacy and post literacy teaching.
Education ministers will boost ratification and fuflfillment of the Higher Education Degrees and Certificate Recognition Convention, signed during the 6th ALBA-TCP Extraordinary Summit on June 24, 2009.
In health, they decided to boost signed projects, reagrding formation of professionals, as well as to reinforce missions, and increase epidemiological vigilance.
They also agreed to strengthen the ALBA Health: ALBAMED grand national company, a medicine distribution company, and guarantee universal access to health services and medicines, as one of the people's fundamental rights.
Sharing experiences in the implementation of programs, as Operation Miracle, and contributing to collective management of financial resources that guarantee its sustainability, while capacity creation and formation of people develop in the different countries were among the agreements.
They will also increase health alertness, prevention, information promotion, timely detection of cases of new diseases and the struggle against the impact of climate change.
In the labor sphere, the Council approved implementing policies and projects to create and maintain decent jobs in priority sectors, and fighting forced labor and servitude conditions.
They also stated the need to promote solidarity state-subsidized housing programs based on exchange of technology and low-cost construction materials, taking advantage of people's participation.
The ALBA Social Council, headquartered in La Paz, closed a cycle for the shaping of these integrationist mechanisms, which was preceded by creation of the economic mechanism in Caracas and the political mechanism in Quito.
These issues will be assessed in the 7th Summit of the mechanism in Cochabamba, from October 16-17.
