58,000 Venezuelans Benefit From Health Accord with Cuba
About 58,000 Venezuelans have undergone surgery or other medical treatment over the past 13 years, thanks to a comprehensive Venezuela-Cuba healthcare agreement.
Jhonny Ramos, coordinator of the binational initiative, listed these figures during an interview on public television in which he confirmed that these medical service were provided completely by Cuba.
He stressed the solidarity-based essence of this program, as well as the quality and the humanist and preventive nature of Cuban medicine.
"Cuba has had the greatness of placing their best medical centers and best specialists at the disposition of the Venezuelan people," said Ramos.
He quoted the testimony of fellow Venezuelans who who have traveled, always with a companion, to Havana to receive the benefits of this agreement.
The program has included specialties, such as oncology, physiatry, neurology, orthopedics, dermatology, and treatments for cardiovascular disease and addictions, he said.
