Cuba commemorates International Workers' Day in a different way

International Workers' Day, a national holiday in Cuba, is being celebrated in a very different way this year.  Huge parades and marches traditionally take place around the island every May 1st -- with the largest march through the Plaza de la Revolucion in Havana -- many years, with more than one million participants.

Cuban residents in more than 30 nations have joined their support to the demands to end the US blockade against the island, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed.
 
Members of dozens of Cuban associations worldwide denounced on Sunday through statements, open letters to governments, petitions and signatures, among other initiatives, the damages that policy has caused to their country of origin and their relatives on the island.
 

Cuba sends doctors worldwide to fight Covid-19

About 1,450 Cuban health specialists have recently traveled to several countries to fight the novel SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, a pandemic that is currently affecting the vast majority of nations.
 
Those healthcare professionals are members of the Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade against Disasters and Serious Epidemics, created in 2005 by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, this time, they are assisting countries affected by the novel coronavirus.

Cuban Pressident Miguel Diaz-Canel says that one's home will serve as the Plaza this May Day.  And from our homes, "workers will raise and sustain the Homeland, despite blockades, wars and threats."
 
Díaz-Canel stated on his official Twitter account that the people are already generating the most beautiful initiatives to parade from social isolation, instead of the capital city's Plaza de la Revolucion, where the central celebration for the date traditionally takes place.
 

Cuba expresses appreciation for Chinese donation of medical supplies

Ana Teresita Gonzalez, First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, on behalf of the Cuban people and government, expressed appreciation for the donation by China of medical supplies to confront the new coronavirus pandemic.
 
In an exchange at the Foreign Ministry's headquarters with the Asian nation's ambassador in Havana, Chen Xi, the two diplomats discussed the close ties of cooperation, aid and collaboration that exist between the two countries.

French parliamentarians on Wednesday asked the United States House of Representatives to immediately activate the process to lift the blockade against Cuba, a demand based on this unjust sanction and current pandemic.

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, in a message to the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba reiterated its unity with "all revolutionaries of the world" in reverently honoring the memory of the leader of the legendary October socialist revolution in Russia.
