Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez is in New York for the UN General Assembly vote on the Cuban-sponsored resolution on the necessity to end economic, commercial and financial blockade that Washington has maintains against the island.
Rodriguez, who arrived Sunday in New York, will speak tomorrow, Tuesday, at the plenary session before representatives of 193 UN member states, Prensa Latina news agency reported.
In 2015, the U.S. government tightened its blockade policy towards Cuba, inflicting even more damage on the Cuban economy and people.
In just one example of the damage caused by Washington's blockade over the past 12 months, U.S. company Gen Tech Scientific refused to sell its Agilent 5975C Gas Chromatograph to Cuba, alleging the existing sale prohibition under the blockade policy. The Agilent 5975C Gas Chromatograph is amply used for research and diagnosis in such areas as biochemistry, the pharmaceutical and medical sectors.
Workers at the newspaper Juventud Rebelde have given special recognition to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and to Cuban President Raul Castro, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the daily's foundation.

Nine U.S. governors sent a letter to the Congress asking for the lifting of travel , financial transactions, and trade restrictions codified in the more than 50-year blockade against Cuba.
"It's time for the Congress to act and remove the sanctions that prevent the normal trade between our country and Cuba," the letter says addressed Tuesday to the leader of the Republican majority in the Senate, Mitch McConnell; the President of the House of Representatives, Republican John Boehner, and the leaders of the minority in both instances.
