Ángel Castro recovers the ownership of his farm from the hands of attorney Fidel Pino Santos since July 1933. Fidel is in charge of the procedures and payments. The transfer is registered by public notary and Santiago de Cuba lawyer Mario Norma Hechavarría.

- Senator Eduardo Chibás dies days after having shot himself in the stomach at the end of his radio broadcast. In 1947 he had founded the Party of the Cuban People ("Ortodoxos"), to which Fidel Castro was politically linked.
- The newspaper Alerta publishes his article "Prío reduces the role of our armed forces".
- The newspaper Alerta publishes his accusatory article "I accuse President Prio of ruining the country".

The newspaper Alerta publishes his article “Report by Fidel Castro to the Accounting Court”.
- Second coup d’état by General Fulgencio Batista, three months prior to the general elections which seemed to promise victory to the Ortodoxos candidate. Batista installs a repressive, reactionary and pro-US dictatorship.
- Fidel condemns the dictatorship in a newspaper article.

He takes refuge at the house of the Orthodox Party militant Eva Jiménez, who lives in an apartment located at 42 Street Number 1507, between 15 and 17.

He writes the article "It is not a Revolution. It is a swipe!", as an immediate response to the military coup d’état led by General Fulgencio Batista. The article was later published by the underground newspaper The Accuser.

He goes to the Cemetery of Colón, along with other Orthodox Party militants to the tomb of Eduardo Chibás. There they distribute leaflets with Fidel's article "It is not a Revolution. It is a swipe ", printed after arrangements made by Raúl Castro, Ñico Jiménez and Eva Jiménez. Several patrol cars burst into the place.
- He submits a complaint against Batista's coup d'état in the Emergency Court. He reads a document where he states: "If in face of this series of blatant and confessed crimes of treason and sedition is not judged and punished. How can a court then try any citizen on charges of sedition or rebellion against that illegal regime which came to be as a result of treason with impunity?
