  • He re-enrolls in the University of Havana as a candidate for the Law Degree.

07/05/1949
  • He publishes the article "Answering Masferrer" in which he confronts the manipulations of congressman and gangster leader Rolando Masferrer and states that "neither Masferrer, nor El Colorado, nor the murderers of all colors which make up that fauna of gunmen, will be able to prevail over those who hold honest and fair-minded ideals. "

  • He attends the National Assembly of the Orthodox Party.

19/06/1950
  • Fidel graduates from university as a lawyer with a Doctor of Law degree.
15/09/1950
  • He presents and defends before the Tribunal Docente Faculty Board his exit examination with the subject "The Bills of Exchange in Private Law and Labor Law" with outstanding marks. He graduated as a Doctor of Law, a Diploma in Diplomatic Law and a Degree in Administrative Law.

13/10/1950
  • The University of Havana issues the Diploma accrediting Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz as an Attorney at Law.

10/11/1950
  • He registers before Havana’s Lawyers Guild. From then on he will practice law to defend the poor and the non-haves

22/11/1950
  • He participates in a student protests in Cienfuegos city against the ill management by Minister of Education, Aureliano Sánchez, and the corrupt and servile government of Carlos Prío. He is arrested and sent to the Santa Clara’s City Jail.

14/12/1950
  • He is tried along with student leader Enrique Benavides in the Emergency Court of Las Villas for his participation in the students protest in Cienfuegos at the end of November. He assumes his own defense, in which he makes a passionate denunciation of the corruption of the Prio’s regime, as well as the lack of constitutional guarantees, the assault of labor unions by gang members and other ills afflicting the country. They are acquitted of all charges.
