President of the National Assembly of Cuba to visit Russia
The president of the National Assembly of Cuba, Esteban Lazo, will visit Moscow shortly, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel announced today in Moscow.
"The president of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, visited us in February this year and shortly comrade Lazo will respond to that visit, said Diaz-Canel while speaking Tuesday before the State Duma (Lower House of Parliament).
He added that "parliamentary relations between Russia and Cuba constitute an important pillar of bilateral ties and it is essential for the promotion and development of our economic, commercial, financial, and cooperation ties."
Díaz-Canel arrived Saturday in Moscow on a working visit and is scheduled to meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, and to take part in the inauguration of a monument to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
The Cuban president's entourage includes Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, Economy Minister Alejandro Gil, and Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca, among other officials.
