Cuban medical brigades depart to Italy and Togo
A second Cuban medical brigade has arrived in Italy to support the containment of the COVID-19, after the positive experience of the previous one which is still working in Lombardy.
According to Cubaminrex, the health professionals landed in Turin, in the Piedmont region, where they will support their Italian counterparts.
The Cuban delegation is made up of 38 specialists from the Henry Reeve International Contingent, with high training and experience in relief aid in emergency situations due to catastrophes and epidemics.
Meanwhile, the government of Togo, in Africa, also requested Cuba the presence of its health professionals to combat the COVID-19. This is the first time that a Cuban medical brigade will reach that country.
Miguel Gómez, chief of the brigade, said Sunday that of the 11 professionals that make up the group, most of them already have more than ten years of work experience and 6 have served in internationalist missions.
As of April 11, there were 73 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Togo and a total of 3 deaths.
