Cuba Celebrates Ecuador's Correa Win

The Cuban media on Monday highlighted Ecuador's President Rafael Correa overwhelming re-election victory on Sunday. "Historic victory for Rafael Correa in Ecuador", Granma daily headlined, referring to Correa’s win.

With 71.5 percent of the ballot count, the current president, who ran for his Alianza Pais movement, had a 51.7 percent lead over former president Lucio Gutierrez, the paper added.

According to Granma, Correa scored a historic, undeniable and unprecedented first-round victory.

For Correa, his overwhelming victory adds to his commitment with the Ecuadorian poor, the text added.

Cuban radio and television also echoed Correa's win and victory address.
