China-Cuba Relations Turn 48
China and Cuba on Friday marked the 48th anniversary of diplomatic relations by highlighting bilateral links are in their best moment and strengthening.
The anniversary was celebrated at the Cuban embassy in Beijing, with the attendance of Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi, and Cuban ambassador Carlos M. Pereira.
The Chinese official told Prensa Latina the two countries have always helped each other in difficult moments, and exemplified with the Cuban aid received after the May 12 Sichuan earthquake.
He recalled China did the same after the damage caused in Cuba by the two recent hurricanes, in particular the solidarity message President Hu Jintao sent to his Cuban counterpart, Raul Castro, and the donations sent.
Meanwhile, the Cuban ambassador affirmed that his country's relations with
China have been and will continue being fundamental.
