China Contributes Donation to Cuba’s Recovery after Gustav and Ike
In solidarity action with the Cuban people, China donated 300, 000 dollars to contribute to ongoing recovery actions in the Caribbean nation, hard hit by hurricanes Ike and Gustav.
“In these tough moments, the Chinese people and government express their solidarity towards the Caribbean nation” said China’s ambassador to Cuba
Zao Rong Xian during the signing of the documents backing up the donation.
Rong Xian said that China’s President Hu jintao sent Cuban authorities a message expressing his willingness to assist the people of Cuba in
recovering from the damage inflicted by the storms on the Caribbean archipelago.
The diplomat mentioned a Chinese Red Cross 50,000 USD donation to its Cuban counterpart, as well as the offers made by several companies to send material and financial resources valued at more than one million dollars.
Attending the ceremony was Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Investment and Cooperation Marta Lomas and other Cuban officials.
