China, Cuba: 55 Years of Excellent Diplomatic Ties

China and Cuba celebrated today in this capital the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, ties both sides considered are in excellent condition.
During a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country, Cuban ambassador to this nation, Alberto Blanco, thanked the parties involved for the launch of the commemorative envelope in evocation of that event.
 
Fifty-five years after its establishment, we can say that the bilateral relations between Beijing and Havana have reached its maturity, surpassed the test of time, and achieved a strategic dimension, the diplomat said.
 
He recalled the visits and exchanges of delegations, from the first one led by Ernesto Che Guevara in November 1960, and those of leaders Jiang Zeming, Hu Jintao, and Xi Jinping, who, in his opinion, have contributed to strengthening a mutual higher level knowledge, confidence, and understanding.
 
Cuba and China are countries moving together for the construction of the socialism with its own characteristics, he explained. About this issue, he said the two models are complementary and have similar objectives: to ensure sustainable development and irreversibility of socialism.
 
The Cuban diplomat recalled the recent achievements and exchanges between the two nations, and in that sense, he said the Special Session of the Intergovernmental Commission, held in July, was an important moment to boost ties.
 
He also stressed that the recent visits by Cuban First Vice President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, and Deputy FAR Minister, Army Corps General Alvaro Lopez Miera, as well as the participation of a Cuban ceremonies detachment in the parade on occasion of China's Victory Day against the Japanese aggression, were further examples of the fluid bilateral high-level exchanges.
 
Cuba has given high priority and a strategic character to its relations with China. The mutual trust, reciprocal benefit, take us mutual references, and the broad level of agreement and consensus on global issues, are the basis of our bilateral ties, no matter how the international conditions are, said.
