Mexican Cultural Festival Pays Tribute to Jose Marti
The Cuban Culture Festival of San Miguel de Allende (CUBAFEST SMA 2012) paid tribute on Thursday to the independence hero Jose Marti, with the premiere in this city of the film El ojo del canario.
The film by moviemaker Fernando Perez is a piece of art that reflects the youth of the founder of the Cuban Revolutionary Party, National Hero of Cuba, for his role as leader of the war of 1895 against the Spanish colonialism, said Guadalupe Meza, director general of CUBAFEST.
Without commercial effects, or the violence characteristic of most current films, Perez achieved a touching piece of art, she added.
Meza also noted that this date was selected because it coincides with the 120 anniversary of the foundation by Marti of the newspaper Patria; binding media of all anti-colonial forces in the Cuban emigration in the late nineteenth century.
This film will close a day of Cuban film projection in the Angela Peralta theater, the most important of the city and World Heritage, added the journalist and cultural promoter.
The children will enjoy Elpidio Valdes by Juan Padron, and then it will be projected Havanastation by Ian Padron, Casa Vieja by Lester Hamlet and Boleto al Paraiso by Gerardo Chijona.
