Ecuador, Cuba Issue Joint Communiqué on Migration

Ecuadorian and Cuban deputy foreign ministers Kintto Lucas and Dagoberto Rodriguez, respectively, concluded a second round of migration talks on Wednesday with the approval of a joint communiqué.

The document acknowledges the strong historic ties of friendship between the two countries, encouraged by their political will to strengthen bilateral relations and Latin American integration.

Both delegations explored new fields of work and made progress in defining bilateral cooperation mechanisms for legal, organized and safe migration between the two countries.

Cuba and Ecuador agreed on the need to be better informed about migration flows and to keep working to confront, combat and punish those responsible for illegal actions related to migration, the official note concludes.
