Cuban Divers Will Compete in the World Cup of Changzhou
Four Cuban divers will compete in the Changzhou World Cup scheduled for June 2 to 6, informed the Cuban News Agency (CNA).
The leader of the Cuban team, José Antonio Guerra, sub champion of the world in platform in 2006 to the Asian competition accompanied by Jeinkler Aguirre, his partner in synchronized 10 meter high jump with whom he won bronze medals in the World Championship of Rome 2009
The team is completed with the experienced Jorge Betancourt and novice Abel Ramirez for whom the competition will be a special practice for the Olympic Youth Games of Singapore-2010.
Trainers Lino Socorro and Milagros Gonzalez will accompany the team expecting to obtain the eight first places in individual jumps and about six in synchronized jumps although they expect more force in the platform jump.
If their intent is achieved it would assure a place in the coming World Series.
Gonzalez told CAN that a good performance in the platform by Guerra and Aguirre in the 5th Olympic of Cuban Sports demonstrated their excellent conditions now.
The former diver added that the recent inclusion of two jumps in the program, with a higher level of complexity, the Guerra-Aguirre duo demonstrated a better plan of execution that increases their point possibilities.
In China Guerra will also compete in synchronized springboard jump with Betancourt to give time for Ramirez to strengthen his experience for commitments at this level.
