Cuban FM Affirms: Europe Lacks Moral to Question Cuba
The Cuban Foreign Affairs Minister Bruno Rodriguez affirmed here Monday that the European Union (EU) lacks moral authority to talk about human rights regarding his country.
Interviewed by Telecinco TV channel, Rodriguez remarked that Cuba as sovereign country does not recognize the EC block any moral authority to deal with this type of matter.
The foreign minister also warned that while the so-called common position of EU -approved in 1996- continue existing in respect to Cuba, a complete normalization of links between the Antilles nation and the Twenty seven will be impossible.
However Rodriguez recognized Spain an appropiate negociator in its condition of acting president of the Union in the current half of the year.
Questioned by Madrid TV channel the Cuban Foreign Minister denied the existence of political prisoners in the island and assured that there are prisoners like in any other part of the world.
It is, he clarified, people that have been tried crimes categorized in previous laws and sanctioned in ordinary trials by civil courts.
There is nothing to do with commissions and courts martial used to try in Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib which that Europe has not even said a word, denounced the Foreign Minister.
Rodriguez who led the Cuban delegation to the Fourth EU-Latam Summit expressed his optimism that the forum will pronounce itself Tuesday for the full validity of the principles of International Right including non interference in the internal affairs and equal sovereignty of States.
